I read 1&2 Samuel this week. I am amazed how Saul had so many chances and blew it!
Saul was a national hero. He led the daring raid to rescue the Tablets of the Ten Commandments from the Philistines, who had captured them along with the Ark. Saul was charismatic and physically gifted, but Saul's pride marked the downfall of his reign as king. In contrast, David was like a runt-he was skinny and boyish. He was not as charismatic either. He even killed to satisfy his desire to sleep with a friend's wife, but David's heart was more beautiful than Saul's. This illustrates how important it is to have a heart for God.

Gen 21

-4God visited Sarah exactly as he said he would; God did to Sarah what he promised: Sarah became pregnant and gave Abraham a son in his old age, and at the very time God had set. Abraham named him Isaac. When his son was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him just as God had commanded.

How encouraging is it to hear, "God did to Sarah what he promised?" Wow that blows me away!

Gen 15

6 Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

7 He also said to him, “I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to take possession of it.”

I was encouraged by the fact that right Abram's faith helped him to be credited with righteousness. Does my faith help me to be credited with righteousness?   This is a tough question for me.
